In 1989, we discovered this abandoned aggregation of farm buildings and residential spaces, a stone’s throw from Pienza but hidden among a dense copse of turkey oaks. It was indeed a “cerreto,” and our fearless leader, Gianni, had a vision and a dream for this place, our entire family. It would be a true colLABORation, as each of us rolled up our sleeves and worked tirelessly for five years to restore life into the buildings and grounds. Despite the fact that there was no roof, no grass, no anything, just the remains of what was once a tenant farmer’s house and grain deposit, we never lost faith in Gianni’s dream. Today, we are pleased and proud to have the opportunity to share the beauty of our land and home and traditions with you and your family.
Our fields, vineyards, and olive groves were resurrected by Umberto. He’s forgotten more about agriculture and the weather than most people will ever know! Lorena turns our fruit and garden goodies into the most delicious jams and tart imaginable; she’s the one responsible for the treats that await in your breakfast basket each morning! They are our link to the countryside and the old traditions of the region. Their memories and stories are worthy of chapters in our history books.
Monica is Customer Service supreme. She will be your daily contact and concierge, and will do everything she can to help make your Cerreto vacation unforgettable. Gianni, our resident dreamer, runs the business; the entire agriturismo falls under his command, whether it’s the pool or the winery, the bedrooms or the foosball table. Most importantly, they are also responsible for Cerreto’s third generation, Michelangelo and Francesca, who just might be spotted taking a quick dip in the pool when they have a study break!
